Icy Bay holds a very high and sustainable population of coastal brown bears. These elegant carnivores can be pursued in both spring and fall. Hunters can expect to be at our base camp for a day or two, and then spike camping down the beach during the hunt. Hunts are conducted in both spring and fall using spot and stalk methods to locate and pursue bears. In the fall, silver salmon runs can prove advantageous for catching bears looking for an easy meal. The abundance of bears at Icy Bay guarantees for an experience of a lifetime. Multiple bears will be looked at, and the adrenaline-pumping close calls happen regularly. We ask that our hunters come prepared for moderate hiking, extra wet weather, and a good time. Hunters can expect opportunities at 9’ bears, with potential of finding a true giant.
